B.Sc. in Zoology (Major) and Botany (Minor) and Geography from Brandon University

Elise hails from the province Manitoba in Canada. A love of nature was gifted to her from her grandparents and father. She chose to study Zoology, Botany, and Geography in university due to this deep admiration for our natural world. During her years of study she worked with children as a counselor at the zoo, and as a child welfare worker. The choice to teach biology was quite easy as it brought together all that she holds dear: nature, science, children, curiosity, and life long learning.
Elise values teaching as a means to change our future by influencing the young minds who will be directing it. It is important that our youth enter into the world with enough knowledge to be able to weed through, read, and interpret information and use this information to make important decisions regarding our planet. They must have the courage to try and to make mistakes, they must have the skills to design and put forth a plan for action in creating their dreams and bettering our world. Education provides our youth these tools.
Elise could not be happier with her choice - even after years of teaching. She started teaching internationally in 1996 and has taught in Canada, Taiwan, China, Egypt, Colombia, and now Hungary.
In her free time Elise enjoys being outdoors with her young daughter, exploring the world and guiding her growth and development. If there is any time left she would be found running, cycling, practicing yoga, reading, or laughing with good friends.

B.S. in Athletic Training from Springfield College
M.Ed in Teaching and Learning with a focus on Leadership from Liberty University
Stefanie was born and raised in a small town in northern Maine on the border of Canada in a bilingual community and is currently teaching physical education in both the middle school and high school.
With a strong interest in athletics and science, and a desire to have a career that could blend both, she attended Springfield College to major in Athletic Training. During a summer job as the Athletic Trainer for a competitive Drum Corps, she met her future husband, also a talented educator, and settled in Maryland. Inspired by both her husband and her father, who just happened to be her 7th-grade French teacher, her interest in education came a couple of years later when she found her way to the Head Athletic Trainer position at an all-girls independent school in Baltimore, Maryland suburbs. It was there where she taught both middle school and high school physical education and lifetime fitness while also ensuring the health and safety of the athletes at the school. She took on a teacher-leader role as chair of the department and completed her M.Ed to evolve her craft. After 12 years of teaching in the same school and a desire to teach and live abroad, she and her husband took positions at ACS Beirut, Lebanon where she taught elementary Physical Education.
Stefanie has a passion for empowering students to take healthy risks, practice lifelong activities that benefit their overall well-being, and celebrate both success and growth opportunities.
Outside of school she enjoys traveling, being outside biking or running, and exploring waterways in her kayak with her husband. Their favorite places to explore are usually lakes and ponds in Maine where they can spot wildlife.

M.A. in Art Education from the University of Minnesota
Tabatha Waller joined AISB as a Middle School and High School visual art teacher in 2012. Tabatha was born in Winona Minnesota and grew up in La Crosse Wisconsin. She has taught Middle School and High School Visual Art for the past 15 years in Minnesota as well as at International School Bangkok and International School of Prague.
Tabatha received her Bachelors of Science in K-12 Art Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, as well as her Masters degree in Art Education from the University of Minnesota.
A question Tabatha is often asked is what type of artist is she. Her response is that she loves and is skilled in a variety of art mediums. However, she believes that her own success in art is best seen not through her use of paint, clay, or pastels, but instead through the work of her students. Tabatha feels most creative, inspired, and artistic when she is working with learners and developing young artists.
In Tabatha’s free time she enjoys creating her own art, traveling and spending time with her husband and small daughter.

She then spent the next 13 years building her teaching expertise in her home country. Ready to live internationally again, she taught in Cairo, Egypt, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, before joining the AISB family in 2024.
Since completing her doctoral studies in masculinities and education, she has worked to support teachers by conducting master lectures and leading workshops on the unique needs of boys in the secondary classroom. She is also a member of the advisory committee for the APA Task Force on Boys in School. Driven by a passion for learning and developing authentic relationships within her classroom, she is fond of saying that learning communities must be "human-centered," and she strives to place rigor, discovery, and joy at the center of the learning experience.

Stephen pivoted into a career in education three years ago when he served as the Makerspace Coordinator at the Canadian International School of Phnom Penh. He is thrilled to support the development of the design spaces at AISB.

BSc. (Hons.) Geography (Applied), University of Huddersfield, UK
PGCE Geography, University of Sheffield, UK
Matthew is from Sheffield, UK, where he graduated in 2002. His keen interest human societies and our impact on our planet led him into teaching Geography, initially for 9 years in the UK, then for 10 years in Asia and, for the last 2 years, in Hungary. Prior to AISB, Matthew was the Subject Area Coordinator for Individuals & Societies at Tashkent International School, Uzbekistan. Now the Head of Department for 6-12 Social Studies, Matthew continues to develop professionally. In the summer of 2023, Matthew qualified as a workshop leader for IBDP Geography which empowers him to guide and educate fellow DP Geography educators across the world. At AISB, he continues to be an enthusiastic proponent of his teaching philosophy, which is very much focused on authentic, inclusive constructivist learning which engages all students, allowing them to flourish and reach their potential.
Outside the classroom, Matthew enjoys keeping fit through running & cycling and regularly enters competitive events as personal challenges. In May 2021, he completed the first ever 'Everesting' recorded in Uzbekistan, a cycling challenge involving hill repeats until the cumulative height of 8849m is reached, in just under 15 hours. This was in aid of the Green Aral Sea project which aims to plant trees across the former Aral Sea bed to rehabilitate the region. In June 2023, Matthew supported student leaders to successfully organise AISB's first ever Cyclothon where the community rode a collective distance of over 1000km to virtually ride to Kyiv in support of our Ukrainian community. Away from cycling, Matthew also enjoys yoga as a method of recuperation and mindfulness, photography (maintaining a blog of his time outside the UK since 2011), reading, and engaging with global issues. Learning Hungarian continues to be Matthew's challenge as a life long learner!
