The AISB community has another reason to cheer! Our very own Alumnus Hubert "Hubi" Kós (Class of 2022) has been ranked the world’s second-best male swimmer by the prestigious SwimSwam magazine in their annual global rankings.
This incredible accolade comes on the heels of a historic year for Hubi. Not only did he secure his place as one of the most dominant forces in the pool globally, but he was also recently named Hungary’s Sportsman of the Year for the second consecutive year. This national honor, paired with his new global ranking, recognizes the sustained excellence he continues to demonstrate at the highest level of his sport.

A Year of Global Dominance

Hubi’s rise to the top of the world rankings is a result of a relentless 2025 season. Since graduating from AISB, he has transitioned from a rising star to a world-record holder. His recent achievements include:

  • World Rankings: Securing the #2 spot globally, a significant leap from his 12th-place ranking just a year prior.
  • Record-Breaking Speed: Shattering the short-course World Records in both the 100m and 200m backstroke.
  • Championship Success: Defending his World Title in the 200m backstroke at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore and sweeping the "triple crown" across the World Cup series.

An Inspiration to Our Community

While the world celebrates his records and rankings, we are most proud of the character Hubi shows on his journey. He remains a powerful source of inspiration for our students, demonstrating that the dedication and spirit we value at AISB can truly reach the pinnacle of the world stage.
We are incredibly proud of Hubi and look forward to cheering him on as he continues to make history.

Congratulations, Hubi! Once a Blazer, always a Blazer.
